The Cardinal JV squad opened their season playing host to the Sauk Rapids Storm, winning 22-0. The first quarter of play was a battle, ending with both teams scoreless.

The second quarter began with a tremendous goal-line stand by the defense.

Steffan Morical made a key play by stopping a Sauk Rapids double reverse in the backfield.

Upon taking over, the Cardinal offense, led by Cole Ellison, put together a strong drive deep into the Storm territory. Jake DeLaRosby caught one of Ellison’s passes to set up the four-yard touchdown run by Brock Wood.

The point after was blocked, resulting in a halftime score of 6-0.

The Cardinals dominated the third quarter as Ellison led an offensive attack that controlled the clock for almost half of the quarter.

This drive was highlighted with a nice reception by Jordan Langner and set up another Cardinal score by Cody Brandt.

It was Brandt again on the two-point conversion, making the score 14-0.

The Cardinal defense continued to hold off the Storm, and in the fourth quarter, Brock Wood scored on a 12-yard run.
