Ardyce Volney, 80

Ardyce Volney, 80, formerly of Alexandria, died August 22, 2009 in Williston, North Dakota.

Funeral services were held at the Riverview Cemetery in Williston on August 29.

Ardyce was born in 1929 in Eureka, SD, and moved to Alexandria with her mother and sister, where she grew into young adulthood and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1948. After graduation, she visited a friend in North Dakota, where she met her future husband.

Ardyce Udell and Cecil J. Volney were married in 1951 and blessed with four sons. Ardyce and Cecil spent most of their married life in Williston until they moved back to Alexandria to care for mother Emily until her passing in 2003.

Ardyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cecil; sons, Greg, Brian, Bruce and Tracy and their families, including five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Bertoch; stepfather, Jack Bertoch; and sister, Shirley Smith.

She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family. Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association.
