The Minnewaska volleyball team kicked off its season with a 1-3 record at the Albany Tournament last week.
The Lakers won their first match by winning the last two games in the best of three format against Maple Lake in the tournament opener. They then dropped three straight with losses to Rocori, Little Falls and Maple Lake to round out the tournament.
“The tournament was a time for playing time and to see what we need to work on as a team,” head coach Linda Mills said. “The competition was good for us. It is early in the season, but we looked strong at times but need to work on consistency.”
Allie Ostrander led the team with 45 assists through the four games. Included in that was an 18-assist match against Little Falls. Kaylee Jacobs was on the receiving end of a lot of those assists. She ended the tournament with 21 kills, including 10 against Little Falls.
