Boots second at World Horseshoe tournament
Four Alexandria Horseshoe League players took their games to the World Horseshoe Tournament in Springfield, Illinois from July 27 through August 8.

Gary Boots finished second in the Men’s Class H-2 Division. Alan Larson took sixth in the Men’s Class B-1 Division, while Janet Larson took seventh in the Women’s Class D and Jerry Zastrow finished eighth in the Men’s Class F-2.
The National Horseshoe Pitchers Association celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. The two-week tournament is held every summer to crown a world champion horseshoe pitcher in eight divisions.
Pitchers compete for approximately $170,000 in prize money, trophies and scholarships.
