The Alexandria Housing and Redevelopment Authority has intentions to apply for a Small Cities Rehabilitation Grant for owner occupied rehabilitation through the Department of Employment and Economic Development.

Each eligible property can receive funds in the form of a possible 10-year deferred loan to make eligible repairs to their home.

Eligible improvements would include health and safety issues, energy efficiency, mechanical, structural, accessibility, fire codes and code compliance.

To be eligible, you must own and live in your home, live within the city limits of Alexandria, and have a home suitable for repair. In addition, real estate taxes, homeowners insurance and mortgage or C/D payments must be current.

Interested parties should contact Erin Bolland at the Alexandria HRA, 805 Fillmore Street, (320) 762-1311 for an “Intent to Participate” form. The intent to participate forms are not an application or acceptance into the program, but expresses interest only in participating. Homeowners who successfully complete the intent to participate form will automatically be sent an official application should the grant be awarded.

Deadline is August 28. The Alexandria HRA is an equal housing opportunity non-profit agency.
