Sealed bid proposals for the Douglas County Service Center Asbestos Abatement Project to be provided in accordance with the contract documents, as prepared by Assessco Environmental Services, will be received at the office of the Douglas County Coordinator’s Office, Attn: William Schalow, 305 8th Avenue West, Alexandria, MN 56308, until the date and time as stated above. Bids will be opened on August 27th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Coordinator’s Office. No faxed or electronic bids will be accepted. Douglas County will be accepting bids for both the asbestos abatement and an independent air monitoring bid.

Contract documents for this asbestos abatement project may be requested through Assessco Environmental Services, Inc. (AES Inc.), 5318 16th Street North, St. Cloud, MN 56303. Phone: 320-230-9986. A $40.00 non-refundable fee applies for a copy of project specification manual made payable to AES Inc. Contract documents will be available on or before August 10th, 2009. A mandatory pre-bid walkthrough will be Friday, August 14th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.

The work will be accomplished through a contract with Douglas County, with Assessco Environmental Services, Inc. as the project manager. The contracts will be for the asbestos abatement as well as a separate independent contract with an air monitoring firm for air sampling throughout the project.

If awarded the contract, successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond covering faithful performance of the contract. Such bonds shall be the latest edition of the AIA document A312/CM, in the amount equal to the 100% payment.

Douglas County reserves the right to reject any or all bids received and to waive any informalities and irregularities in the bidding.

Work is to commence on September 21, 2009 and full completion date of October 23rd, 2009.
