Brandon to host Mid-Summerfest August 5-9
The town of Brandon is hosting its annual Mid-Summerfest Celebration Wednesday, August 5, through Sunday, August 9.

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to participate in and enjoy.
There will be softball and sand volleyball tournaments at the ball park both on Saturday and Sunday, along with concessions available by the junior class.
To date, here is a listing of upcoming events:
Wednesday, August 5
5 p.m.: Food and entertainment at the Lion’s Park. There will be a Pork Chop/Hot Dog Supper sponsored by Brandon Community Club and cooked by the Douglas County Pork Producers. There will also be a beer garden and live music by “Pure Country”.
Friday, August 7
7 p.m.: Brandon’s 2nd Miss Tootsie Contest in the Brandon School Gymnasium. Tickets will be $5 for adults, $3 for kids K-12. Ice cream will be served by the Brandon Community Club.
Saturday, August 8
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Craft show and quilt display at City Hall. Lunch will be available by Moe 4-H Club.
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Brandon History Center open at City Hall.
10:30 a.m.: Kiddie parade.
Donantions for Douglas County Food Shelf collected between the two parades. Bring your donations to the parade route.
11 a.m.: 27th annual grand parade. Grand marshals for this year’s parade are Jim and Mae Elchelberrger. The Grace Lutheran Salad Luncheon and Brandon Fire Department water wars at the Brandon Fire Hall will take place following the parade.
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Petting zoo across from the car wash.
1 p.m.: Free fingerprinting by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in the laundromat.
2 p.m.: Official pedal tractor contest on the corner of Front Street and Nelson Street for those ages 4 to 11. Trophies will be awarded.
3:30 p.m.: The Lions Club “all you can eat fish fry” at Lions Park. There will be raffle drawings.
9 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Annual firemen’s street dance by City Hall with music provided by October Road. During the dance the Brandon Community concessions stand will be set up in the back city shops with a variety of foods.
Sunday, August 3
7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Breakfast at St. Ana’s Church and attend the church of your choice.
Softball and Sand Volleyball tournament.
