Date for United Way chili cook-off announced
The United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties recently announced the date for this year’s annual Chili Cook-Off and Silent Auction.
The United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties recently announced the date for this year’s annual Chili Cook-Off and Silent Auction.
The fundraising event for this year is planned for Tuesday, September 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria.
The theme for this year has also been chosen and will be “World Wide Sports Chili.”
Organizers of the event are looking forward to this year’s event, stating, “What’s better than chili and your favorite sport?”
Individuals, businesses and organizations are encouraged to register their favorite chili in the competition.

The chairperson for this year’s event is Cindy Zacher from Zacher Excavating.
During the chili cook-off, there will be a silent auction. Anyone interested in donating to the silent auction can do so by contacting the United Way. The chair for this year’s auction is Kellie Janssen from Glenwood State Bank.
