The North American Hockey League (NAHL) recently announced the schedule of its 2009 Showcase Tournament, which will be held from September 16-19 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine.
All 19 NAHL teams will play four regular-season games at the event, with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program’s Under-17 team also playing four games.
The Showcase Tournament has evolved into one of hockey’s most prestigious events of the season. The four-day event, now in its seventh season, is a can’t miss for scouts representing almost every NCAA program and NHL team trying to get a look at some of the top young talent in North America.
In conjunction with the NAHL Showcase, 64 Midget and Bantam teams will play at the Super Rink from September 17-20. Thirty-six teams will compete in the first North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) event of the season, with 26 others skating in the at-large divisions of the NAHL Future Prospects tournament.
The Alexandria Blizzard open up their Showcase schedule with a 4 p.m. game against the Wenatchee Wild on September 16. They play at 12:45 p.m. on September 17, 5 p.m. on September 18 and 1:30 p.m. on September 19. A complete tournament schedule can be seen at www.nahlshowcase.com/schedule.cfm.
