Texas-based information technology company Affilliated Computer Services plans to hire 43 more employees at its facility in Fergus Falls.
“We’re growing our IT-outsourcing business. That’s why we’re looking to expand our employee base there,” said Carol DeMatteo, ACS corporate communications director.
ACS, which currently employs 15 people after opening in Fergus Falls in 2006, will add the positions over the next four months, she said.
“We certainly are excited that we can grow this type of job base in Fergus in the information technology sector. That provides some pretty high-quality jobs for our region,” said Harold Stanislawski, director of the Fergus Falls Economic Improvement Commission.
“In this type of economy that’s an excellent thing to have happen,” said Gordon Hydukovich, Fergus Falls community development director.
“They are good-paying technical jobs. We hope they will keep expanding,” Hydukovich said.
He also hopes the positions will lure back young workers who have left the area, Hydukovich said.
“We’ve had a lot of success at our Fergus Falls facility with the existing labor pool there,” DeMatteo said.
“There’s a lower operating cost in that area and we’ve had a very low attrition rate, which also makes it desirable,” she said.
DeMatteo would not divulge salary ranges for the jobs. “It is competitive and the benefits are competitive,” she said.
The types of positions being offered are for network engineers and analysts, remote support desk top technicians and imaging specialists, she said.
Interested candidates can apply online at www.acs-inc.com and click on the careers tab.
ACS is promoting the jobs at regional career fairs, including one held Wednesday in Minneapolis, she said.
“We certainly want to draw from the Fergus Falls area as well,” DeMatteo said.
Current ACS employees live within a 60-mile radius of Fergus Falls, said Jim Boyce, local ACS facility manager.
Founded in 1988, ACS posted $6.2 billion in revenues in 2008 and employs 74,000 in 100 countries worldwide, including 550 in Minnesota.
