Motorists need to be prepared for delays on Highway 27 from the Douglas/Todd County line east of Osakis to Highway 71 as a road preservation project will begin Monday, July 27.
Crews will resurface the roadway, including shoulders, and install or repair culverts and guardrails.
Traffic will be single-lane through the work zone controlled by a pilot car and flaggers. Work will be done Monday through Friday during daylight hours and occasionally on Saturday.
A three-week detour also will be in effect on Highway 27 from Todd County Highway 51 to Todd County Highway 11.
The detour will be via Todd County Highway 51, Todd County Highway 2 and Todd County Highway 11.
The short-term closure is needed to allow crews to raise the level of the roadway in the Faille Lake area and replace culverts.
Once the detour is lifted, motorists may still encounter lane closures as crews continue with paving operations.
Motorists are reminded to obey all traffic signs and personnel and to never go through areas closed off with barricades.
Knife River Corporation of Sauk Rapids is the prime contractor for the $2.4 million road improvement project. The entire project is slated to be complete by mid-September.
