Edward Lesmeister, 75

Edward Jerome Lesmeister, 75, died July 12, 2009 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria.

Edward was born May 2, 1934 in Glenwood to Matthew and LaVern (Voit) Lesmeister. He graduated from high school in Glenwood and went on to attend two years of college at St. John’s University.

Ed was united in marriage to Carole Hillier on November 20, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood. They spent the majority of their married life in Rochester, coming to Alexandria in 1990. Ed worked in the auto business all of his life; most recently at Auto Value in Alexandria.

Ed enjoyed his years of hunting, fishing and trapshooting. He loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren and all of Carole’s daycare children and attending different activities with them.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; sons, Mike of Elba, Tim (Becky) of Stewartville and Jay (friend, Linda Croll) of Zumbrota; grandchildren, Heidi (Joel) McIntyre, Luke, Hannah, Stephen and Nathan; brother, Paul (Barb) of Morris; sisters-in-law, Del Hillier and Pam Hoffland; brother-in-law, Bob (Jan) Hillier; several nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and LaVern; and brother, Robert.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
