The Alexandria Little Beetles 13U AA baseball team is working its way through the brackets at the 2009 USSSA “AA” World Series in Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The Beetles qualified earlier in the summer for the tournament, which is being held July 12-19 at the Council Bluffs Sports Complex.
In pool play, the Beetles topped Starpath 10-3, then fell to Siouxland Stars Maroon 5-1.
In bracket games, the Beetles defeated the Keystone Cobras 2-0, then topped the Siouxland Stars Black team 10-2.
Their 3-1 record moved them into the championship bracket.
They were to play the Mustangs on Wednesday, and if they won, they were to face either the Bombers or Starpath.
The team includes David Krivanek, Bennett Schuneman, Jordan Frederick, Jordan Karger, Drew Winter, Kaden Anderson, Lane Berberich, Logan Steidl, Chris Leary, Drew Fearing, Mitchell Thompson and Jordan Haas.
The team is coached by David Haas, Brian Steidl, Bob Steidl and Gregg Thompson.
