Alexandria’s Brock Lesnar became the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) undisputed heavyweight champion as he avenged a loss to Frank Mir in February of 2008 with a dominating performance at UFC 100 in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Lesnar showed how much he has grown as a UFC fighter by defeating Mir with a second-round TKO. The former University of Minnesota wrestling standout took Mir to the ground early in the second round and pummeled him with fists to the face before referee Herb Dean called the fight at 1 minute, 48 seconds.

Lesnar landed numerous punches in both rounds. Mir’s only offense came early in the second with a knee and a flying knee. That flying knee turned out to be his undoing as Lesnar threw him to the ground and pinned him up against the cage.

It was all but over from there. Lesnar let out his frustrations from a loss to Mir 17 months ago by delivering a flurry of right hands to Mir’s face before the match was called.

The final stats show just how one-sided the title match was. Lesnar was credited with 26 impact strikes and two takedowns compared to five impact strikes and no takedowns for Mir. As a result, Lesnar brings the championship belt back to Alexandria and moves to 4-1 in his UFC career.
