Here’s a chance to learn how to landscape your shoreline to benefit the lake.

The Douglas Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is hosting a free Shoreland Buffers workshop on Friday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Public Works Building.

Karen Terry, Extension educator, will present it.

The workshop will emphasize a holistic approach – addressing property owners’ expectations, the beneficial functions of natural shorelines, and shoreland regulations. This will enable you to make sound shoreland management decisions and implement shoreland revegetation projects.

The workshop is ideal for shoreland property owners, lake association leaders, natural resource professionals, local units of government, master gardeners and master naturalists.

Contact the Douglas SWCD to register by calling (320) 763-3191, extension 3 or sending an e-mail to emily.siira@mn.nacdnet.net by Monday, July 13.

The workshop is free, but participants are asked to bring their own lunches.
