All non-profit organizations in west central Minnesota are invited to apply for the Board Leadership Academy – a customized training program designed to help non-profit board and staff members work together to strengthen their organization’s performance and success.

Up to 10 non-profits will be chosen for the program, which involves three sessions over the course of the next year.

Participants will learn how to develop board and executive staff leadership, receive one-to-one coaching, and enjoy learning opportunities through networking and peer interaction. Featured topics will include marketing, fundraising, strategic planning and more.

West Central Initiative President Nancy Straw said, “Since the Board Leadership Academy began, 17 organizations have participated and they have all reported a significant change in their ability to lead the organizations they serve.”

Past participant Linda Roles, executive director of the United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties, said, “I always appreciate the savings in time and money when educational opportunities are offered to local non-profits.”

Along with a grant awarded by the Otto Bremer Foundation for this program, area companies including West Central Initiative, Tastefully Simple, Bremer and HBH Consultants sponsor the program.

To be selected, a non-profit organization’s executive director and at least two board members must commit to participating in the Board Leadership Academy. If you are interested in applying or learning more about this program, contact Holly Witt at hswitt@

bremer.com or (320) 589-0552.

All applications are due July 15.
