AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
CITY CODE CHAPTER 9.21,
SUBDIVISION 8, ANIMAL CONTROL AND LICENSING REDEMPTION
The City Council of the City of Alexandria does ORDAIN:
SECTION I: That Section 9.21, Subdivision 8 of the Alexandria City Code is hereby amended by adding the underlined language:
Redemption. Any animal may be reclaimed from the animal shelter by its owner within the time specified in the notice by their payment to the City Clerk of the license fee, an impounding fee as outlined in City’s fee schedule for the cost of boarding, and all costs related to the purchase and implantation of a microchip, if one is required to be implanted by Minnesota Statute Section 347.515. In the event that the impounded animal is a dangerous dog that is required to be registered under Minnesota Statute Section 347.51, the animal owner must also pay an annual fee, in addition to any regular dog licensing fees, to obtain a certificate of registration for a dangerous dog as outlined in the City’s fee schedule.
SECTION II: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication.
