Quilt museum opens in Osakis

Quilt lovers may want to check out the new Quilts Along the Trail Museum located at 2nd and Main Street in Osakis.

Quilt lovers may want to check out the new Quilts Along the Trail Museum located at 2nd and Main Street in Osakis.

Displays and exhibits feature antique and vintage quilts, as well as modern and contemporary patterns in a variety of quilted items.

The museum will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. now through October 17.

A variety of gift items, along with fabric remnants and fat quarters, are for sale by the non-profit group Quilts Along the Trail, which organized the museum and is providing volunteer staffing.

Quilt event

Quilt exhibitors, vendors, and visitors are encouraged to save the date for the 6th annual Quilts Along the Trail show in Osakis, set for Saturday, September 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Exhibitors are encouraged to register early. Others wishing to be a vendor or join one of the events such as the bed turning, challenge quilt-making, consignment sales or make-and-take workshops, can register now by calling the Osakis Chamber of Commerce, a sponsoring partner, at (320) 859-3777.

There is no entry fee and no judging involved in the show. Its purpose is simply to share the art and beauty of quilts. Exhibit entries can be registered from now until two days prior to the show’s opening.

The event is free to visitors and open to the public.
