Grants available to help small businesses

Experience Works, a nonprofit organization, has funds available to help small businesses in Minnesota grow by assisting them in the recruitment, training and employment of mature workers.

The Experience Works Small Business Program is funded through $782,000 in grants from the Small Business Administration.

The program helps small businesses save recruitment time and money, and training expenses, by matching them with mature workers in the community who have completed occupational skills training for a variety of positions including administrative, data entry, customer service, home health care, nursing and security.

Through the Experience Works Small Business Program, funds also are available to provide customized on-the-job training and ongoing support to newly hired employees.

“Mature workers offer small businesses a variety of advantages including a lifetime of experience and their reliability,” said Pagyn Harding, who coordinates the program for Experience Works in Minnesota. “Our goal with this program is to help small businesses put the power of this experience to work for them.”

Small businesses who want to learn more about the Experience Works Small Business Program may contact Pagyn Harding at (218) 962-3275. For more information, visit www.experience
