One sign that summer has returned to Minnesota is the E85 promotion, and the Pipeline Travel Plaza in Alexandria is hosting the first event of the season.

On Friday, June 12 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Pipeline Travel Plaza, 3181 Evergreen Lane, Alexandria, will reduce the price of E85 fuel by 85 cents per gallon (limit 25 gallons per customer).

The plaza is located near Highway 27 West and County Road 45 (exit 100 off Interstate 94).

“While everyone is looking for less expensive fuel these days, using E85 instead of gasoline in a flexible fuel vehicle also has many other benefits,” said Lisa Thurstin of the American Lung Association in Minnesota. “E85 burns much cleaner than gasoline, reducing harmful emissions that pollute our air. If your vehicle can use E85 as well as gasoline, it makes sense to use a homegrown fuel that’s better for our air.”

The promotion is being supported by the Douglas County Corn and Soybean Growers, Minnesota Corn Growers Association, General Motors Corporation, National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities, American Lung Association in Minnesota and the Minnesota Clean Air Choice Team.
