Alexandria’s Joshua Schmidt, representing the Chippewans 4-H Club, will take his shooting skills to Grand Island Michigan on June 25-28 to participate in the 4-H National Shooting Sports competition.
Schmidt earned a right to shoot in the national event after placing third in the Minnesota State Shoot held in September of 2008. He will be competing in trap.
The Minnesota 4-H shooting sports also has black powder, archery, shotgun and air rifle disciplines. The program is run by trained volunteers and meets at the Alexandria Shooting Park on Wednesday evenings for trap. The group also meets on Thursday evenings in Dalton for archery.
Anyone interested in either of these programs can contact the Douglas County Extension Office at (320) 762-3890.
