Junior Achievement (JA) was conducted in 72 area classrooms this year, including the following: grades 1 to 4 at Lincoln, Voyager and Washington elementary schools in Alexandria, Carlos Elementary School and Miltona Science Magnet School; and grades 1 to 6 at Garfield Elementary School, St. Mary’s School in Alexandria; and Parkers Prairie.
JA is an organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. JA helps prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.
Community volunteers deliver the curriculum while sharing their own work experiences with students.
