Cardinals drop doubleheader to LIttle Falls
Alexandria fell 11-1, 9-1 to the Flyers in CLC
The Alexandria baseball team wrapped up the regular season on a bit of a down note, getting swept in a doubleheader against Little Falls on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals were out-hit 23-11 in the two games as they fell 11-1 in the nightcap after dropping game one 9-1.
“The Cardinals were outplayed by the Flyers all night as every ball they hit found a hole, while every ball the Cards hit hard on the evening found a Flyer,” head coach Russ Hinrichs said. “The Cards were never able to get anything going in either ball game, and it was not meant to be on this night.”
Alexandria collected eight hits in game two but could only push across one run. Colin Erickson and Dalton Leuschke both had two hits apiece.
Game one saw the Cardinals struggle to get anything going against the Flyers. Alexandria had just three hits in the game as Little Falls pounded out 12. Tyler Iverson, Karl Brezina and Parker Giroux recorded the hits for the Cardinals.
Alexandria finished the regular season with a 9-11 overall record. The Cardinals finished 6-8 in the Central Lakes Conference. They will likely be the No. 4 seed in the section tournament and open up the playoffs against Brainerd on Monday.
