Alex Tech gets $36,000 for diesel mechanics program

The diesel mechanics program at Alexandria Technical College (ATC) was recently awarded $36,000 from the Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Program.

This is the 10th consecutive year that the diesel mechanics program at the college has received this award. Funds from the grant program provide financial assistance to students in the form of scholarships, summer work experiences at Ziegler/Cat facilities, AAS degree student internships, and employment opportunities upon graduation.

Since 1998 this program has awarded more than 300 individual student scholarships to ATC diesel students. It also awards funds to purchase modern training equipment for the diesel program.

The Alexandria Technical College diesel mechanics program has received more than $1.3 million in total dollars from industry support. This support has come from awards such as the Caterpillar Dealer Excellence program and in-kind gifts from industry.
