Alexandria Technical College was recently awarded a $170,060 grant through the Minnesota Renewable Energy Marketplace.
The program is an industry-led consortium of economic development, workforce development, education and workforce leaders.
Its goal is to transform a 36-county region from primarily agriculture-dependent to a knowledge and innovation-based economy.
The awarded project is designed in conjunction with Solar Skies Manufacturing LLC to develop a training initiative for the incumbent workforce.
The project will identify and develop multiple levels of non-credit solar thermal training focused on developing industry instructors and creating training modules for consumers, designers, engineers and trades people.
About 40 people will be trained during the pilot phase of this project.
