The West Central Area softball team saw its offense explode in a 22-4 win over Wheaton on Tuesday night.
The Knights scored seven runs in each of the first three innings to take control early. Alyssa Olson and Tanika Nguyen had three hits apiece. Nguyen had four RBIs. Alyssa Blair joined her with four RBIs on two hits in the game.
The offense made it easy for Lauren Nelson, who picked up the win from the circle. Nelson allowed the four runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out three.
“Blow outs are no fun,” head coach Tom Grout said. “But if there is going to be one, I’m happy that we were on the winning side this time. The girls hit the ball well and played good defense. Lauren Nelson did just what we wanted – she threw strikes. Tanika Nguyen and Alyssa Olson each had a good day at the plate. We have been getting good hitting from a number of girls.”
