Redbird girls' track and field team keeps invitational title at home
Seven first place finishes secured the championship for the Cardinal team
In their own home invitational Tuesday, the Cardinal girls supplemented seven first place finishes with a slate of top six finishes to earn first in the Alexandria Invitational track and field meet.
The Redbird girls scored 384.5 points behind first place finishes from Annie Trebelhorn, Whitney Gesell, Katie Iverson and Val Smith in the 4x800 relay (10:34.5) and Gloria Head, Amber Tebben, Nikki Swedberg and Rosey Erickson in the 4x200 relay (1:51.6).
Tess Boucher put together a personal best time in the 1,600-meter run to earn a first place in 5:33.1, and Mallory Stier’s shot put effort of 33-11.5 was also a personal best.
Chelsey Richardson took first in the 3,200-meter run in 12:14.0, while Stier won the discus with a 96-6 and Nikki Hammond was first in the pole vault with a height of 7-6.
