Someplace Safe to host annual awards banquet

Someplace Safe, a local non-profit dedicated to serving area victims of violence, will host its 19th annual awards banquet.

Someplace Safe, a local non-profit dedicated to serving area victims of violence, will host its 19th annual awards banquet.

The event is set for Thursday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria.

The event will celebrate individuals and community groups who support Someplace Safe, along with employees for length of service. It will include a silent auction, cash bar and entertainment by the Jeitz singers

The featured speaker for the event is Jill Blashack-Strahan, founder and CEO of Tastefully Simple. Blashack-Strahan will be speaking about how to move through fear and overcome obstacles.

“We are excited to take time to celebrate our many community supporters while also sharing the mission of Someplace Safe,” said Someplace Safe Douglas County Manager JoAnn Boorman.

Tickets to the banquet are $20 per person, or $160 for a table of eight.

Additional silent auction items are currently being sought. Monetary or material donations, new or used cell phones, paper products or household items for Someplace Safe will also be accepted at the door.

About Someplace Safe

Someplace Safe is a non-profit organization that serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and general crime.

The organization is celebrating 30 years of providing services such as a 24-hour emergency shelter for battered women and their children, supervised visitations and exchanges for children and their families, domestic violence support group and violence prevention programming in schools.

Someplace Safe has outreach offices in Perham, Fergus Falls, Alexandria, Glenwood, Elbow Lake, Morris, Wheaton, Ortonville and Breckenridge.
