Redbird softball team falls
Apollo rallies for a 3-1 win over Alexandria in CLC play
The Cardinal softball team suffered their second consecutive loss on Thursday, falling to St. Cloud Apollo 3-1.
“We got off to a great start, scoring a run in the first inning,” said Alexandria head coach Bob Cunniff. “Gracie Bruzek led off the game with a walk, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kate Gearman and later scored on a two-out double by Ally Teclaw. It would be our only run of the night.”
The Redbirds had other chances throughout the game, but couldn’t bring the runs home.
The Eagles, on the other hand, scored a pair in the fourth and an insurance run in the fifth.
Dani Bany took the pitching loss, despite allowing just one walk and striking out seven.
Teclaw, Gearman, Courtney Richardson and Bany each had one hit for the night.
Alexandria will be at Sartell tomorrow, Thursday, with game time set for 5 p.m.
