Cardinal tennis team wins two
The Alexandria tennis team improved to 6-0 with two easy wins over Thief River Falls and Detroit Lakes at the Detroit Lakes Triangular last Friday.
The Alexandria tennis team improved to 6-0 with two easy wins over Thief River Falls and Detroit Lakes at the Detroit Lakes Triangular last Friday.
The Cardinals swept through the Lakers 7-0 in the last match of the evening after upending Thief River Falls 6-1 in the opener.
Alexandria took care of Detroit Lakes in straight sets in all seven matches. Connor Illies anchored them at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win, while Reggie Ronning and Luke Eberly teamed up at No. 1 doubles for a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
It was much of the same against the Prowlers. It was Ronning who solidified the lineup at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win to pace the Cardinals in the opener.
Joey Goeden and the Prowlers’ Fabian Tunberg locked up in a tight match at No. 4 singles. Goeden won the first set 6-4 before falling 5-7 in the second. The two battled hard throughout the third before Goeden prevailed with a 10-8 win.
The Cardinals have breezed through their first six wins of the season so far. Ronning, Illies, Luke Eberly, Kevin Desautels and Matt Peterson all remained undefeated after the Detroit Lakes Triangular.
