Alexandria’s Vikingland Band Festival has just received a healthy dose of publicity on the national level.
The festival is featured prominently in the latest issue of Halftime Magazine, a glossy, full-color publication with a circulation of 10,000 that promotes the sights, sounds and spirit of marching bands across the country.
The magazine article covers many unique forms of marching activity and the Vikingland Band Festival is noted for its pioneering role as a “bands-only” parade.
The article includes quotes by several Minnesota band directors, including Alexandria Band Director Todd Blaser. The story was written by former Alexandria resident and festival co-founder Ken Martinson.
Alexandria’s 25th annual Vikingland Band Festival will be held on Sunday, June 28. A highlight of this year’s festival will be the return of the Alexandria Alumni Marching Band.
