JV baseball
The JV baseball team opened their season on Tuesday night in Rocori, winning 5-3.
The Cardinals played well defensively behind great pitching from Nate Nelson and Eric Carlsen.
Carlsen earned the win by pitching three scoreless innings, while striking out three.
Nelson pitched four innings, giving up three runs while striking out eight.
At the plate, the Cardinals had 11 hits, three going for extra bases.
9th grade baseball
The freshman baseball team saw the A team defeat Rocori 11-0 and the B team fall 6-0.
JV softball
The JV fastpitch team traveled to Rocori to kick off the 2009 Tuesday night, falling 6-5.
Through the first five innings, Rocori held a slim 1-0 lead.
The Cards scored five runs in the sixth with hits from Randee O’Brien, Sam Berglin Jacquie Brown, Sam Brown and Ally Haar.
Rocori scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead 6-5.
Jacquie Brown took the pitching loss, giving up three hits, striking out two and walking two.
JV tennis
The JV tennis team defeated St. Cloud Apollo 7-0 as Thomas Williams, Mike Langenfeld, Austin Storm and David Bush were singles winners, while Brett Stueve and Joey Goeden, Josh Fearing and Dylan Sundberg, and Trevor Grandgenett and Mac Wadi won a doubles.
The JV team is now 1-2 and 1-1 in the CLC.
