Class in Alexandria will examine children's mental health treatment options

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Human Services are teaming up to offer free parent education classes around the state on evidence-based practices in children's mental health.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Human Services are teaming up to offer free parent education classes around the state on evidence-based practices in children's mental health.

The class is titled “What Helps, What Works?” Treatment options in children's mental health will be discussed, including common behaviors in children; how to document behaviors, the state diagnostic assessment tool, and practices that have been researched to be effective for children and adolescents.

The next training will be held April 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Douglas County Hospital, 111 17th Avenue East in Alexandria.
