Column – Hotshots shine; workers sink

We the people should rise up in a new revolution and snatch back the millions of dollars the A.I.G. crooks have stolen from us, the taxpayers.
A.I.G. stands for American International Group. If you ask me, it should stand for “Arrogant Idiotic Greed.”
A.I.G., an international insurance company, snatched with its customary greed a taxpayer bail-out of $170 billion and then proceeded to pay its worthless executive skunks millions of dollars in so-called bonuses.
We have been told repeatedly if A.I.G. fails (it already has, let’s face it), the world’s economic system will collapse, too. So we are all supposed to be terribly afraid and give those irresponsible, greedy, misguided jerks everything they want? I don’t think so.
Bad things will happen, we’re told. One example is that high-paid movie stars couldn’t be insured – those daring-do types who plunge themselves into dumb violence. Oh, please, let them die. They don’t deserve survival — or insurance. So many insured companies deserve to bite the dust, too. Who’s counting?
What all does A.I.G insure? It’s hard to find out. But let’s all try to find out, and we should determine, quickly, if these hucksters and their Congressional sycophants are just bull-shafting us when they claim the sky will fall if this company and its greedy minions aren’t fed endless tax bucks.
What I want is for the names and faces of these A.I.G. jerks to be shown in their greedy glory on TV, billboards and milk cartons so all Americans can recognize their mugs at every moment. And, more than that, these cretins should be punished for their crimes.
Isn’t it funny we slap bank robbers in jail while these big-time embezzlers go scot-free, rewarded with millions of our hard-earned dollars?
During the past few days, I saw sad features on TV about unemployed people struggling along, trying so hard to keep alive in this stinking-dying economic system. Many can’t afford health care (surprise, surprise); many others can’t afford house payments or car payments or gas-and-electricity payments; and still many others cannot even buy the simplest of foods for minimal nutrition.
We crow about “America the Beautiful” all the time.
But what is “beautiful” about a country in which we keep tossing our hard-earned tax money to the very criminals who got us into this mess in the first place? And I don’t mean just A.I.G. That’s only the start.
To solve this sickening riddle, we must start with the bought-off members of the U.S. Congress – then and now. It won’t be easy. But we have to get rid of them and then, at long last, make this a people’s country.
