Central Minnesota’s Winter Dance Club has two dances coming up in March to be held at the Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood.
The Upper Mississippians Jazz Orchestra will play on Sunday, March 15 from 3 to 7 p.m.
The 13-member orchestra will play music of the 1920s through 1950s, including swing, Latin, polka, waltz and fox trot, with an emphasis on the upbeat and danceable tunes and rhythms of the era.
Though this is the first time the band has played for the dance club, during the summer months the popular band plays regularly at Chateau Zorbaz on Little Sand Lake north of Dorset.
Julie Lee and The White Rose Band will be playing on Friday, March 27 from 7-11 p.m.
The four-piece group features clarinet, sax, trumpet, keyboard and accordion.
The band’s play list includes a wide variety of dance music, from country, big band and 50’s, to old-time waltzes and polkas.
Admission is $10 per person or membership is $50 per couple for the four remaining dances.
Everyone is welcome to attend the dances. For more dance information visit the club’s Web site at www.lakesideballroom.org or call Barbara Benson at (320) 763-6432.
The Winter Dance Club dances are entirely funded through membership, which pays for facility rental and the bands that play for the dances.
