Central Square in Glenwood is proud to present an evening of fun with a concert and dance featuring the popular Velvet Brass band.
The event is slated for Saturday, March 7. The concert/dance will begin at 7 p.m. and go until 9:30 p.m.
Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
Tickets will be sold at the door only and are $5 for adults. There is no charge for all area students who are involved in band and choir and are accompanied by an adult.
Known for their “big band sound,” Velvet Brass’ music is perfect for both ballroom dancing and listening enjoyment.
The group’s repertoire includes swing, light jazz, soft rock, Dixieland, Latin, Broadway highlights and standards from the 1920s to the present.
Their vocal numbers include ballads with harmony and the blazing exciting of brass.
Velvet brass musicians include Brent Cochran on piano, Bill Engebretson on drums, Chuck Wencl on saxophone and Duffy Morton – the band’s leader – on trumpet and trombone.
There will also be a surprise appearance by two well-known comediennes from the area.
