The Central Lakes Concert Association (CLCA) is proud to announce its next performance – Spanish Brass. The concert will take place Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m. in the gym at Jefferson High School.
These five fabulous musicians are sponsored by the CLCA and will play a program ranging from Bach and Malcolm Arnold to Duke Ellington, Henry Mancini and Fats Waller.
Not only will their program choices display a wide variety of genres, CLCA organizers said, but their presentation of the program is unique in that all music is played from memory. And, each piece in the program is choreographed.
The group will play as they move, which is a first for a brass quintet.
“They’re popping up everywhere, turning the concert scene upside down and making child’s play of difficult music,” according to organizers. “They are flooring audiences – and themselves – with their incredible stage presense.”
From concert series to brass festivals to guest appearances with symphonies, Spanish Brass has presented hundreds of concerts across the globe, including the Great American Brass Band Festival, the New York Brass Conference and many other prestigious European festivals in Germany, Spain, Greece, France, Switzerland and Italy.
Newcomers to the Alexandria area who are interested in joining the Central Lakes Concert Association should contact Jan Johnson at (320) 762-1350 or Bernita Darveaux at (320) 763-6248 to purchase season tickets.
