Letter – God or Darwin, whose way is better?
How is it that we have come to give a disinterested nod to the 200th birthday of one of the greatest presidents our country has ever known (Abraham Lincoln), while emphasizing, celebrating and honoring the 200th birthday of a man whose theory of evolution literally led to the massacre of six million Jews and millions of others who were considered unfit to live?
To the editor:
How is it that we have come to give a disinterested nod to the 200th birthday of one of the greatest presidents our country has ever known (Abraham Lincoln), while emphasizing, celebrating and honoring the 200th birthday of a man whose theory of evolution literally led to the massacre of six million Jews and millions of others who were considered unfit to live?
In his book, From Darwin to Hitler, author Richard Weikart argues persuasively and convincingly that Darwin’s theory of evolution was the causative factor behind the Nazi policy of eradicating Jews, Gypsies and unwanted people such as the mentally handicapped. The Nazi generals along with Hitler believed (we know this because they said so) that it was simply a good thing they (the Nazis) were doing to help the process of evolution along by eliminating an inferior species and hence cleansing the human race of contaminants that would pollute the pure Aryan breed. At one of their policy and planning summits, one of the generals was quoted as saying in regard to the extermination of the Jews, “Darwin would be proud of the progress we have made.” Is this the man whose 200th birthday we want to be celebrating?
God would not be pleased with such emulation. The Bible says that, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” After finishing his creation on the sixth day and after creating man in his own image, the Bible says, “And God saw all that He has made, and behold, it was very good.” God’s way values all life. Darwin’s way leads to the extermination of unwanted life. Which way is better?
