Sign-up for 2009 DCP taking placeProducers are reminded that the 2009 Direct Countercyclical Program (DCP) sign-up is going on right now in local Farm Service Agency (FSA) Offices.
Producers are reminded that the 2009 Direct Countercyclical Program (DCP) sign-up is going on right now in local Farm Service Agency (FSA) Offices.
Due to the narrow timeframe to complete sign-up, producers are being strongly encouraged to take care of their sign-up now. When provisions of the new Acreage Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) Program are announced, producers who elect to participate in ACRE will be given the chance to switch their sign-up.
The 2009 program is similar to past sign-ups. The program does make a reduction in that base acreages are paid at 83.3 percent of total acres wherein the past this percentage was 85 percent. Producers can elect to take an advance payment of 22 percent of total earnings for the farm unit. The balance will be paid after October 1, 2009.
The program sign-up will end on June 1, 2009. Producers are strongly encouraged to call for an appointment to sign up. Due to new program rules, all eligibility documents will need to be completed as part of the sign up.
Producers can call the Douglas County FSA office at (320) 763-3191, extension 2, to schedule an appointment or call their local FSA office for more information on getting their sign-up completed.
