Robert “Rob” R. Store, 56, Alexandria, died of liver cancer January 27, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, Mary, family and friends.
Robert “Rob” R. Store, 56, Alexandria, died of liver cancer January 27, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, Mary, family and friends.
Rob was born July 13, 1952 in Glenwood to Alfred and Olga (Lowry) Store. He graduated from Glenwood High School and attended automotive training classes in Detroit Lakes. Rob moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1970, then to Burbank, California in 1972. He worked as an auto mechanic during this time. Rob then moved to Detroit Lakes where he started a foreign car repair shop and Subaru dealership. He moved to Alexandria in 1978 and managed a Mazda dealership. In 1982, he opened his own shop, Rob’s Import Service, in Alexandria, which he operated for 26 years before retiring.
Rob was united in marriage to Karla Findley on May 17, 1980. To this union, two sons were born, Jesse and Michael.
Rob loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, dog-sled racing, and working with kids and youth groups. He was very involved in Boy Scouts and was an assistant scout master when his boys were in the Scouts. He was involved with the church and served on the board. He also enjoyed helping with the youth and Sunday school.
Rob loved music. He especially liked classic rock, blues and bluegrass. He played guitar, mandolin and harmonica. He participated in church bands and played with friends.
On September 23, 2007, Rob married Mary Brainard. The couple continued to reside in Alexandria.
Rob is survived by his wife, Mary Store; sons, Jesse and Michael Store; his mother, Olga Van Winkle; and his brothers, Fred and John Store.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Store; and his brother, Bruce Store.
Memorial services were held Saturday, January 31 at Shalom Lutheran Church with the Rev. Grant Aaseng and the Rev. Rollen Halvorson officiating. Musical selections were by The Spirit of Shalom Band.
