Letter – Easy to give away money of others
While the city of Alexandria certainly is going to have a budget shortfall, they continue to extend tax increment financing to developers, thus increasing the tax burden on the taxpayers.
To the editor:
While the city of Alexandria certainly is going to have a budget shortfall, they continue to extend tax increment financing to developers, thus increasing the tax burden on the taxpayers. I guarantee you your taxes are going to go up, most likely faster than your income. I’m amazed at how easy it is to give away someone else’s money.
So far the city council has gotten everything they’ve wanted. Bigger is not always better. One thing is for sure – we can count on more traffic, more crime, more taxes, and did I mention more taxes?
