Otters stop Alexandria in Central Lakes girls’ hockey

The Cardinal girls’ hockey team fell back to .500 on Saturday night after losing a Central Lakes Conference contest to Fergus Falls 3-1.

The Cardinal girls’ hockey team fell back to .500 on Saturday night after losing a Central Lakes Conference contest to Fergus Falls 3-1.

The Otters jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first. They built that lead to 3-0 before Michelle Anez scored an unassisted goal with less than a minute remaining in the game.

That was all the offense the Cardinals could muster against the Fergus Falls defense. Otter goalkeeper Karlee Werre faced only 14 shots, turning aside 13 of those. Stephanie Drown saw 22 shots on the night, collecting 19 saves.

It was the third straight time that the Cardinals have followed up a win with a loss. They fell to 9-9 overall and 5-5 in the CLC.
