Letter – Glad for forgiveness and renewal

It is often said that if we would just look inside we would find peace and love and harmony.

To the editor:

It is often said that if we would just look inside we would find peace and love and harmony. But when I look inside of myself I find things that are not so pretty and harmonious, things like temper and selfishness. Oh sure, I wish I would find the good things only, but it is the simple reality that it is not by any means the case.

Justice to those on the butt end of my temper or selfishness demands that they must be protected, by force if necessary. There goes universal peace and love and harmony.

I will do my best to live at peace with all, as Saint Paul admonished, but I am a cracked pot and the good things keep leaking away. I’m glad that justice is a reality for the innocent and the vulnerable and I’m glad there is forgiveness and renewal for us who want the good but often fail to live up to the reality.
