Loren Delmore Iverson, 72, Alexandria, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Loren Delmore Iverson, 72, Alexandria, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He never complained and would always say, “Leave it to the man upstairs.”
Loren was born March 20, 1936 in Reno Township to Emil Iverson and Aurelia (Kvitek) Iverson-Josephson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.
Loren graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1954. After graduation he started working in the construction business. Loren later started his own business, Iverson Masonry, which he ran for about 30 years. He thoroughly enjoyed the work and received great satisfaction from the end product.
Loren married Glorene Johnson on November 17, 1956. They were blessed with two daughters, Kimberly Ann and Karen Marie.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, gardening, feeding birds and cooking for family and friends. He was also a huge Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.
Loren is survived by his wife of 52 years, Glorene; daughters, Kimberly Ann and husband, Jeff Thompson, and Karen Marie and husband, Gary Semmens; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Loren, AnneMarie Heather and Tyler Jeffrey Semmens; brothers, Louie (Anita), and Milo; sister-in-law, Gloria Therkildsen; brother-in-law, Peter G. Kruize; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd; brother-in-law, Warren Johnson; sisters-in-law, Deloris (Peter G.) Kruize, Sharon (Milo) Iverson, Deloris (Tootie) Johnson; and nephew, Michael Iverson.
His family was extremely important to him and they were his pride and joy. He had a lot of fun with his family throughout the years. Loren was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Steve Binsfeld officiating. Pallbearers were Peter A. Kruize, David Retzlaff, Jerry Iverson, Jay Iverson, Steve Johnson, Mark Johnson and Jeff Hanson. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
