Card boys' basketball team falls to Eagles

A rally by Alexandria fell short in the CLC?contest

The Alexandria boys’ basketball team fell to 2-4 as they dropped to St. Cloud Apollo 63-55 in a Central Lakes Conference clash at Jefferson High School Saturday.

“The first half was back and forth, each team battling to take control of the game at various points,” said head coach Forrest Witt. “The Eagles utilized a late first half run to take a 10 point lead going into the halftime break.

“The Cardinals battled back, chipping away at the Eagles’ lead throughout the second half,” he added. “A late Cardinal run fell short as Apollo held on and secured a 63-55 win.”

Unofficially, Connor Illies paced the Cardinals, scoring 17 points in the contest. Steve Conley added 12.

The Eagles had four players in double figures, led by Tim Bergstraser with 17.
