Still wondering what to do with that live Christmas tree you bought this past holiday?
Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management is once again sponsoring a free Christmas tree recycling project for all residents of Douglas and Pope counties.
This is for live trees only. No artificial trees are accepted.
To participate, bring your tree to the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Drive in through the main gate off County Road 82, drive past the Runestone Community Center, turn right and follow the signs.
Remember to remove all tinsel, plastic bags, metal and wire from the tree. No house-hold garbage is allowed.
Each tree collected will be chipped to mulch and used on Douglas County park trails.
The program runs through January 14. No trees will be accepted after that date.
Remember, local garbage haulers will not collect Christmas trees.
The Christmas tree recycling project is sponsored by donations from the following businesses – Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management, Waste Management, Mattheisen Disposal, Inc., Alex Rubbish Service, Engebretson Sanitary, West Central Sanitation, KOOL, KIKV, KXRA, KX92, Z99 and the Echo Press.
