A warm welcome

An idea that began about 10 years ago finally came to fruition last Friday – the dedication of a “Welcome to Alexandria” sign.

An idea that began about 10 years ago finally came to fruition last Friday – the dedication of a “Welcome to Alexandria” sign. Those representing the city, the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, and the company that paid for the sign – Tastefully Simple – dedicated the sign Friday. The 1,000-pound lighted landmark stands along Highway 29 South near the frontage road to Taco Bell. Landscaping touches, such as shrubs and perennials, will be added next spring. The long-range goal, according to the Chamber, is to place similar signs near three other entrances to the city – Highway 29 North, Highway 27 East and Highway 27 West.
