Geneva was born March 22, 1913 to John F. and Anna M. (Brockopp) Duberowski on the family farm in rural Parkers Prairie. She was baptized on April 27, 1913 and confirmed on April 10, 1927 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. She grew up in rural Parkers Prairie and attended country school.
She was united in marriage to Walter Venzke on March 11, 1932 in Fergus Falls. Following their marriage they lived in Elmo Township and farmed in the Almora area. Geneva worked at St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie as a nurse’s aide for 10 years. Her husband, Walter, died on November 29, 1992. Geneva continued living on the farm until moving to Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake in 2004 where she remained until the time of her death.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and its ladies aid in Almora. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, embroidering and vegetable gardening. She loved taking care of her grandchildren. She will long be remembered as the best mom and grandma in the whole, wide world!
She is survived by a son, Dale (Paulette) Venzke of Henning; two daughters, Yvonne (Nathan) Young of Henning and Nila Venzke of Battle Lake; a special grandson raised by Geneva, David (Nicole) Hanson of Vining; sister, Myrtle Schultz of Parkers Prairie; brother, Marvin Duberowski of Parkers Prairie; son-in-law, Donald (RaVae) Hofferbert of St. Peter; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Ramona Hofferbert and JoAnn Hanson; a grandson, Steven Hofferbert; great-grandson, Brian Hanson; great-granddaughter, Brenna Hanson; two sisters, Vivian Kalpin and Lulu Thorpe; and two brothers, John Duberowski and Paul Duberowski.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with the Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music was provided by organist, Gloria Hollatz and vocalist, Mary Duberowski. Burial was at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Venzke, Kirk Venzke, Corey Hofferbert, David Hanson, Robert Hanson and Alan Hanson. Honorary pallbearers were her remaining grandchildren.
