JoAnn was born February 16, 1936 to Nettie and Alton Anderson in Alexandria. JoAnn grew up in Alexandria and graduated in 1954 from Central High School and then moved to Minneapolis where she attended the Minnesota School of Business.
JoAnn moved to San Diego where she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Bradford, class of 1953, on November 30, 1957. Jim and JoAnn remained in southern California after Jim got out of the Navy. They had two sons, Jim Jr. and Jeff. Her family and especially her grandkids, Justin and Jenna, were most important to her. JoAnn worked for Hughes Aircraft for many years and retired in the mid 90s. After her retirement, JoAnn became a volunteer at St. Jude’s Hospital in the surgical recovery room for more than five years.
JoAnn was loved by all who knew her and always was found with a great smile and an infectious laugh. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
In January of this year she was diagnosed with lung cancer. After a long battle and regimen of chemotherapy and radiation, she decided to start home hospice. After just over a week of hospice, she passed away at home.
JoAnn was one of seven children. She has joined her brothers, Lynn and Tolief and leaves behind her brother, Adrian and sisters, Aldoris, Marilyn and Kathy.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, November 24 at Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Yorba Linda, California. JoAnn was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
