December 8

A theft of a trailer was reported at Ollie’s Service Center, 1213 Broadway.

Someone spray-painted writing on a garage on Irving Street.

December 9

A purse was stolen at an Early Childhood Family Education classroom on Aga Drive.

The Target Store was evacuated shortly before 10 p.m. as a precaution against a suspected gas leak. No leak was found.

A resident reported that someone charged numerous transactions on his debit card. The amounts totaled $1,100.

December 10

A cell phone, ATM card and a debit card were stolen from a house on Nokomis Street.

December 11

Several items were stolen from an unlocked car parked at Kenwood Drive. Stolen were a CD case with 40 CDs, a white iPod, an Arctic Cat jacket, other clothing and some type of prescription.

December 12

Check blanks were stolen from a car while the owner was at work near 50th Avenue West.

December 13

A resident lost a wallet containing a debit card and work card at the Viking Plaza.

More than 30 vehicles were reportedly egged in south Alexandria. The locations included Viking Lakes Village, Days Inn, Super 8 Motel, AmericInn, Wal-Mart, Holiday Inn, Pheasant Run Apartments and Country Inn and Suites.

A set of keys was stolen from a residence on Cedar Street.

SHERIFF BLOTTER

December 8

A truck broke through the ice near the Lake Reno public access. It was in about three feet of water and the owner was able to get it out.

Deputies investigated a complaint of a large number of puppies and other animals being mistreated and malnourished at a rural residence on County Road 7 northwest of Brandon. The animals appeared to be OK but the case was forwarded to the state for more investigation.

December 9

A Legend 3-horsepower ice auger was stolen from a pickup parked at the Lake Reno public access. Estimated value: $450.

Several parking violations were reported in the city of Garfield because the owners didn’t move their vehicles off city streets for snow plowing. Owners were notified and those who didn’t comply were ticketed. In the future, owners who don’t move their vehicles after a snowfall will be ticketed without warning.

A checkbook was lost in the Sunset Strip area.

December 10

A gas auger, heater and a bucket of fish were stolen two days earlier near the Lake Reno public access.

December 11

A visitor at the Douglas County Jail was cited for attempting to bring in a small amount of illegal drugs. She was told she was not welcome back at the jail.

December 12

A maintenance shed at Arrowwood Resort was broken into for the third time in the last couple of weeks.

December 13

A vehicle and a trailer parked near West Lake Burgen Road were egged.

At least four fish houses on Devils Lake near Brandon were broken into. Fishing rods, tackle, augers, a depth finder and other items were stolen. The sheriff’s office advises anglers to take any items of value with them when they leave the ice.

A fish house on Lake Cowdry was broken into. Fishing rods and tackle were stolen.

Someone bent the door to a fish house on Lake Cowdry but did not gain entry.
